Electric Pedals new HQ, celebration weekend

We're beavering away at the moment making plans to celebrate our move into our new London Bridge headquarters. We're partnering with Southwark Council Play Services to share some space backing onto White's Grounds Skate Park, in the shadow of The Shard.

We have a few lovely little events lined up for you to get involved with.

SATURDAY 23RD JUNE

Furniture Jam 11am-4pm, Gibbon's Rents SE1 Our friend Geoff Walker of Re-Fuze and his band of carpenters will be running a practical workshops throughout the day at the Gibbon's Rents Community Garden launch. Re-Fuze salvage discarded stuff like old furniture, motor and bike parts, wood, metal, textiles, plastic and glass and turn them into stylish, functional, ethical items of furniture. For London Festival of Architecture they will be building some seating for a couple of our community-cinema events being held in the evening at Gibbons Rent and White's Ground Skate Park.

People are welcomed to come along and get involved, learn a little about joining techniques and come up with some design ideas for the seats and benches.

Electric Pedals Cycle Cinema 8pm-10.30pm, White's Grounds Skate Park

Join us as we welcome you for an evening in our new home. We will be celebrating our arrival in the area with a cycle-cinema event to be held in the unusually, urban surroundings of White's Grounds Skate Park. The guys from Peckham & Nunhead Free Film Festival will be coming down to support us and make sure we do things right. All are welcomed to watch the film or bring a bike and pedal to power the system. The film that will be shown is still being voted on, so register your choice now!

Bring a blanket, a cushion and picnic of sorts and settle down for a evening under the arches.

SUNDAY 24TH JUNE Tangentfield's Adventures in Creative Resourcefulness 11am-6pm, The Railway Arches, White's Grounds Skate Park, Crucifix Lane, SE1

The brilliant Tangentfield will be bringing their unique, creative resourcefulness to Electric Pedals new railway arch headquarters. They will be using the materials found on site to create some urban landscaping solutions to tidy the space up and transform it into a more welcoming environment.

Picking up from where Furniture Jam left off the day before, they will also continue to work on building some seating solutions from reclaimed materials for The Architecture Foundation's pop-up cinema at Gibbon's Rents.

Guests and visitors, people with an interest in making and building, are welcome to join in and lend a hand.

We will also be displaying Tangent Field's concepts for a temporary development for the arches so Electric Pedals can use the space as a workshop. We would like to invite members of the local community and neighbours to come in and look at these plans and leave their feedback and ideas.

Game Day Treasure Hunt 12pm-4pm, kicking off at the White's Grounds Skate Park

We have joined forces with the lovely Bristol based folk from The Love of It to create a playful treasure hunt around SE1. This is good wholesome fun for the whole family and will take in some of the areas lost treasures and most recent architectural and landscaping treats from the local area.

There will be prizes for the top team of the day!

Please come along and join us! All of this amazing hands on fun is FREE!
