Em'powering the New Cross and Deptford Free Film Festival

September 2011 saw the Free Film Festivals (@freefilmfest) reach new heights with over 3000 people attending 23 films screenings in Peckham and Nunhead. What’s amazing about the organisation, is that it's run by an army of volunteers and very little funding. So when we got involved in 2010, we jumped at the chance of using bicycles to power some of the screenings...

The enthusiasm for using the power of film to bring communities together has now given birth to the New Cross and Deptford Free Film Festival (@NXDFilmFestival) which takes film out of the multiplex and into the community. Film events will take place in twelve different venues across the borough of Lewisham from Friday 27th April to Sunday 6th May.

The full programme of events can be found here.

Electric Pedals have joined the Free Film army by volunteering time and kit as a part of our commitment to reinvesting in our local community. We will be pedal-powering three out of the twelve events:

Film: Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Date/Time: 27th April 2012, 20.00 h - 22.00 h Location: Somerville Adventure Playground, Queens Rd, New Cross, SE14 5AA

Film: Sherlock Holmes Date: 28th April 2012, 20.00 h - 22.00 h Location: Fordham Park, Pagnell Street, New Cross, SE14 6AY

Film: Up Date: 5th May 2012, 20.00 h - 22.00 h Location: Telegraph Hill Upper Park, Kitto Road, New Cross, SE14 5TY

We're looking forward to Up as Telegraph Hill Upper Park boasts one of the best panoramic views of London, it's really quite something. Apparently local children are going to launch their very own flying houses just before it gets dark!
