- How do you fix the skateboard wheel onto the motor?
If you get a belt-drive motor i.e. Unite MY1016, you can remove the top of the belt cog either with a gear puller or by gently hammering the lip of the cog off. A skateboard wheel then fits perfectly over the cog and you can secure with 3 screws. Pictures to follow!
- What exactly do I need to generate electricity with a bike?
You can generate electricity with just the bicycle generator, however this will be unregulated, erratic DC voltage and only suitable for powering a limited range of appliances such as LED lights, low voltage incandescents or 12V amplifiers. The unregulated generator on its own does have distinct advantages in some demonstration purposes, but if you use a Power Pack (or a battery and an inverter) in conjunction with the generator your options are much wider.
- How much power can I generate with a bicycle generator?
You can expect to generate from about 50 watts per bike with the average person pedalling, children from about 10 watts upwards, very fit people anything up to 400 watts!
