Pedal-powering Hope for Apes

We had a great meeting yesterday with the lovely people at the Ape Alliance. Their chair, Ian Redmond OBE, is an internationally-renowned conservation advocate, so it‘s really exciting that we’re going to extend our partnership with them this year by supporting the Hope for Apes conference in November 2012.

Pedal-powered cinema @ launch of Bear Pit Cinema Yurt

Bonfire night saw us celebrating the launch of Anna Best’s Bearpit Cinema Yurt over at the Cyclopark in Gravesend. It kicked off with a Bearpit Bunch Bike Ride giving people the opportunity to ride some of the more unusual bicycles before settling down to a bicycle powered screening of the cult classic The Moon and [...]

Celebrating Shire Green in Sheffield

In the summer we ran our YouWatt light bulb challenge at the Sanctuary Group‘s ‘Let’s Celebrate Shiregreen‘ event in Sheffield. Also attended by David Blunkett MP and snooker champion Steve Davis, so we were in good company.

Your Homes Newcastle school tour

In September this year we went up to the north of England to deliver a series of pedal-power workshops to primary schools in and around Newcastle. Three days, three schools and 540 pupils later we returned to London a little bit hoarse but very pleased with ourselves.

A White Night pedal-cinema at Fortune of War

On Saturday night we were invited down to Brighton to join in the White Night festivities by the nice chaps at the Fortune of War pub on Brighton beach front.

Shambala Special-ness

It’s funny now thinking back to just how tired we were after our Good Times at the Greenman. Luckily, the amazing healing powers of a couple of nights in our own beds set us up nicely to finish off the festival season with a trip to that magical mystery place; Shambala.

Flash Gordon & the cycle-cinema land on Peckham Rye

Last night was a blast. Despite dramatic cloudy skies and the occasional shower earlier on in the evening, we were joined by a dedicated crowd of outdoor cinema enthusiasts, many of whom cycled to the park especially for the show. It was the second of our large scale pedal-powered cinemas for Peckham & Nunhead’s Free [...]

Continuing our amazing colaboration with the Great Ape Film initiative, Gearing Up 4 Gorillas have recently invested in a new Pedal Powered Field Cinema. This cinema will be used mainly in Virunga National Park (VNP).

Good Times at Green Man

At 4.15am on 18th August, we packed up our kit and set off for Wales to join our friends in Einsteins Garden at The Green Man festival. We arrived slightly bright and bleary-eyed at 8.00am, just in time for breakfast. Nice touch? Well, this kind of set the tone for the rest of the weekend.

Super Summer Sundae

Right-o, we’re massively behind with telling you tales of our summer adventures so in the next 24 hours we’re going to take you on a whistle stop blog tour of our time in the field. If you can’t be bothered to read it all, just look at the pictures! We hope they will whet your [...]

An Accidental Secret Cinema

What an absolutely beautiful evening ‘under the arches’ with the Free Film Festival turned out to be! After a last minute change of plan, we moved the event five minutes down the road to another railway arch. As it turned out, the new venue was visually a more interesting and dark enough for a screening. [...]

Dates for the Diary

We’re still reeling from the last few weeks of festivals but even so, we’ve got a busy old month ahead of us and there’s quite a few things that you can all get involved with too so we thought we’d give you a heads up on with some dates for your diaries.

Saturday night at The Fortune of War

A couple of weeks back we took our field cinema down to the Fortune of War pub on Brighton sea front to test out running a pop-up cinema down there.

That wonderful WOMAD weekend

We’ve had three nights sleep in our own beds and at least four showers since we returned from WOMAD at Charlton Park and we’re only just starting to reassemble our minds (and bodies!), which were utterly blown by the brilliance of it all. We were invited by the lovely people at Tangentfield to provide the [...]
